- Press Start. You have 2 minutes for all 18 countries.
- Type a country’s name. It counts as soon as it matches and turns green on the map; a country under another letter clears the box, with a note saying which letter it is under.
- Pause whenever you like. When the time is up, the lists below the map show what you named and what you missed.
About the countries that start with M
M has 18 countries: 7 in Africa, 4 in Asia, 4 in Europe, 1 in North America and 2 in Oceania. South America is the only continent without one, and there are several near-identical pairs to keep apart.

Mexico is the largest and the most populous; Monaco, the smallest, is the second-smallest country in the world. Mongolia is the most sparsely populated country, and Madagascar is the fourth-largest island on Earth. Mauritania and Mauritius are on opposite sides of Africa; Mali, Malawi and Malta are easy to swap. The Maldives is the lowest-lying country in the world. “Burma” counts for Myanmar, and “Federated States of Micronesia” for Micronesia.

A country is under the first letter of the name used on this site, ignoring accents. The two Congos are both under C, where most lists put them. Territories and dependencies aren’t answers, and land outside the quiz is shown in a lighter shade.
Spelling: capitals, accents, spaces and punctuation don’t matter, and well-known alternative names count.
The accepted alternative names appear here when your quiz ends, so they don’t give any answers away.
