  2. Type a country’s name. It counts as soon as it matches and turns green on the map; a country under another letter clears the box, with a note saying which letter it is under.
  3. Pause whenever you like. When the time is up, the lists below the map show what you named and what you missed.

More about the countries that start with D (names some answers)

Dominica is a small island in the Lesser Antilles; the Dominican Republic, many times larger, shares the island of Hispaniola with Haiti. Both count, and each needs its own name. Denmark’s kingdom also includes Greenland and the Faroe Islands, which aren’t answers. Djibouti sits at the mouth of the Red Sea. DR Congo isn’t here: it is under C with the Republic of the Congo.

Which countries count

A country is under the first letter of the name used on this site, ignoring accents. The two Congos are both under C, where most lists put them, so DR Congo isn’t an answer here. Territories and dependencies aren’t answers, and land outside the quiz is shown in a lighter shade.

Spelling: capitals, accents, spaces and punctuation don’t matter, and well-known alternative names count.

The accepted alternative names appear here when your quiz ends, so they don’t give any answers away.
