How to play
- Press Start. You have 4 minutes for all 40.
- Type an answer, in any order. It counts as soon as it matches, with no need to press Enter, and fills in its row.
- Pause whenever you like; the list is hidden while the clock is stopped. If you leave mid-game, it waits, paused, until you come back.
- When the time is up, the ones you missed fill in, marked as missed.
About these currencies
One row here stands for 21 countries that share a single currency, the largest monetary union in the world. Several currency names are shared by many countries, often a legacy of the same empire or the same coin, so most rows need the country’s adjective to tell them apart.
More about the currencies (names some answers)
The euro replaced 21 national currencies, from the Deutsche Mark to the Bulgarian lev in 2026. The US dollar is the most widely held reserve currency. The pound sterling is the oldest currency still in use. The yen, the won and the yuan share a name meaning “round”, after round coins; the rupee comes from a Sanskrit word for silver, and the peso is Spanish for “weight”. Renminbi, “the people’s currency”, is the name of China’s currency; the yuan is its unit.
What counts
The rows are the 40 largest economies by nominal GDP (IMF estimates for 2026), with the 21 countries that share one currency as a single row. Type the currency’s name: the country’s adjective is optional where only one row has that currency. A name several rows share fills every row that still has it open.
Capitals, accents, spaces and punctuation don’t matter, but the spelling does.
The accepted alternative forms appear here when your quiz ends, so they don’t give any answers away.

Questions
Do I have to type the country’s adjective?
No: a name that several rows share fills every row that still has it, and a name only one row has works on its own.
